About Sunnyrock Woodworks

Sunnyrock Woodworks is owned and operated by Chris Gibson. The studio is based in the Boston suburb of Walpole, MA.

Meet Chris Gibson

Woodworking has always been a passion of mine but really took off in 2017 when I began building furniture to fill our home. Since then, my enthusiasm for hand crafted furniture  has only grown, thanks to the constant support and encouragement from friends and family.

The Sunnyrock mission

I want people to get excited about the process of creating unique pieces using quality hardwoods, functional design, and eco-friendly finishes that bring out the natural beauty of wood. Furniture from big box stores—made with low-quality materials—will eventually end up in a landfill. My goal is to get away from disposable goods and back to hand-crafted items that people are proud to own.

My mission is to create things that will be around for generations, heirlooms if you will. I use responsibly sourced lumber and reclaimed materials whenever possible. I love to give a second life to local trees heading for the chipper or up-cycle church pews headed for the dumpster.

My love and appreciation for nature influences my work and I hope to inspire others to start creating items they are proud of.

Rooted in history. Protecting our future.

The name for the studio comes from Sunnyrock Farm, a 75 acre farm tucked away in North Walpole. The farm began operation in the 1920s and was up for sale in 2012. There was a push by the community to protect the land but it was eventually sold to housing developers.

Protecting and supporting conservation land is something my wife and I are passionate about. I donate a percentage of profits to organizations that work to preserve and protect open space such as The Trustees, Mass Audubon, Adams Farm, New England Forestry Foundation, and One Tree Planted.
